A BRIEF HISTORY

Founded in 1986, Acorn Engineering became involved in Narrowboat electrical systems, manufacturing the Kestrel alternator controller. Natural growth saw the company activity expand into the supply of Narrowboat equipment in general, and now we have the largest Retail catalogue for narrowboat equipment in the UK.

In addition, Peter Hopley is a Marine Surveyor, offering pre-purchase or hull condition surveys, and is also authorised to carry out Boat Safety inspections and issue Boat Safety certificates. He is also currently Corgi registered to undertake Gas work in Boats.

As part of a new approach, we shall be eliminating products from our range for which we found little demand and shall be working with suppliers who hold large stocks and deliver to us regularly. In this way, our customers will benefit from the wider range of products provided by our suppliers, and at very competitive prices.

Acorn will move more to mail order, telephone and online sales, and will only offer a limited 'counter sales' service. We will hold stocks of fast moving items, but larger slower moving product will be obtained to order. We will of course be happy to obtain goods to order, provided they are available from our preferred suppliers.

Besides the above, I shall continue to produce bespoke electrical Control Panels, and offer general advice and consultancy much as I always did.
